“Thin” movement clocks were only made by Jeromes & Darrow for approximately one year (1828). Prior to this, Jerome used groaner movements and afterwards used Terry-style movements of their own manufacture. The dial is an appropriate replacement, and the mirror is not original (although appropriate). The splat has been replaced and stylistically is probably not a good match for the stenciled columns.
30-hr Noble Jerome “thin movement”. Jerome was an early proponent of bushings as an improvement to wood movements. “Thin” movements have ivory (bone?) bushings.
Detail of stenciling on column. The stenciling on these early clocks is more intricate and elaborate than on later clocks.
Detail of stenciling on block below column. With the exception of the George Mitchell clock in my collection, I have only seen these mirror image comma stencils on Jeromes & Darrow clocks.
