New Haven 8-Day Mini OG

New Haven Clock Company double ogee, c. 1870.  When purchased this clock was missing all of the veneer on the front of the case.  I re-veneered it without attempting to be faithful to period positioning of the veneer.  On the door and edge of the case, the grain runs parallel to the side (would have been perpendicular originally), and I oriented the veneer on the ogee portion at an angle to give it a bookend appearance.  I also experimented with “repairs” to the tablet, without touching the original (see below for the method I used).  18.5″ x 11.75″
