Wm. Whiting & Co. Wood Works Clock

IMG_4449a

Wm. Whiting & Co. wood works clock, c. 1831-35.  The case and movement were purchased separately.  The mirror and glass are replacements.  The movement (along with dial, hands, and weights) came from another clock that it didn’t belong in.  Despite not originating in this case, the movement is appropriate.  Comes with weights, keys (original door key and winding crank), and pendulum.  35.75″ x 17″

Label indicating the clock was “CASED AND SOLD BY/WM. A. WHITING & CO.” of Buffalo, NY.  Wm. Whiting was a cousin of Riley Whiting and known primarily as a dealer-agent for Riley Whiting clocks.  Wm. Whiting labels are far less common that Riley Whiting ones.
