Seth Thomas mini bevel-front clock, c. 1865. Damage to the door frame just above the knob, otherwise in good condition. The dial was completely repainted (see below for dial in as-found condition). 15.75″ x 10″
Seth Thomas label showing Thomaston, CT as the place of manufacture.
Relatively uncommon round 30-hr spring-driven movement, with the maker’s stamp showing Plymouth as the place of manufacture. After 1865, Plymouth became known as Thomaston. The Plymouth movement and Thomaston label are often found together and help date the clock to 1865 or slightly later. It’s not known how long movements with Plymouth stamps lasted after the town was renamed.
Dial in as-found condition before repainting. Note: all original paint was removed prior to repainting.
