A clock produced during the brief period between the fall of 1840, when Jerome bought out most of his partners in Jeromes, Gilbert, Grant & Co., and 1841, when Jerome went solo. His partner in Jeromes & Co. was his brother, Noble.
The tablet is an inappropriate replacement. It would likely have had a reverse-painted landscape. The upper glass and dial were repainted by me. Based on a fleck of gold paint that survived on the original dial under the overpasted paper dial, I mistakenly thought the entire dial was painted gold. I later learned that only the chapter ring was gold; the remainder was left as plain zinc.
